There is a simple formula to reduce your 10-year risk of dying by 50% to 70%.
How To Reduce Your Risk?
Just walk a lot.
That’s it. Just walk a lot.
According to a study conducted and supported by a group of premier research institutions
In this cohort study of 2110 adults, participants taking at least 7000 [steps per day], compared with those taking fewer than 7000 [steps per day], had a 50% to 70% lower risk of mortality. There was no association of step intensity with mortality regardless of adjustment for step volume.
The study examined a group of adults between 38 and 50 who took at least 7,000 steps daily – about three miles – and discovered that these individuals were much less likely to die over the next decade. Mortality rates among both White and Black participants fell by 63 and 70 percent, respectively, compared to their sedentary peers.
In order to get the benefit from walking, how fast you walk doesn’t seem to make a difference. The key is to walk at least 7,000 steps a day.
