JEFFREY ALLEN HANSON age 64, passed away peacefully on December 12, 2020, in Miami, FL after a short illness.

Jeffrey Allen Hanson was born on March 13, 1956, in Detroit, Michigan to Martha Ann Jones and Edward Marion Hanson.

Jeff moved to Sacramento, California as a young boy and lived there until he graduated from High School. Jeff enlisted in the US Army in 1976. Jeff had a long career in the Army serving in such places as Germany, Panama, Afghanistan, and Italy in Special Operations units to name a few. He also had the distinction of being a Drill Sergeant training hundreds of new Army recruits to become Soldiers. Jeff retired in 1996 after 20 Honorably served years. During those years of service, Jeff was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Achievement Medals, Army Good Conduct Medals, Paratrooper Air Assault Badge, and decorated with multiple ribbons.

After retiring from Active Duty, Jeff was still drawn to wearing a uniform and so continued his service to the United States working for the US Department of State for nearly another two decades from June 2000 until retiring in August 2019. During this time, Jeff met the love of his life, Maria in April 2005 in Costa Rica. It was love at first sight and at that first dinner is where they discovered that they had so much in common which led to many exotic adventures. After a brief courtship, he married Maria on August 27, 2006. What drew Maria to Jeff was that he was a man of faith. He never left home without reading a bible verse. This was the basis of their 15 beautiful years together.

Over the years, Jeff acquired a passion for vehicles. He enjoyed classic cars and motorcycles, namely Ford and Harley Davidson models. He frequently rode his Harley on adventures with friends.

In addition to the many fond memories, Jeffrey Allen Hanson departs his final command in life leaving his beloved wife Maria, siblings Steve, Susan, Bobbi, and Timothy. He is preceded in heavenly homecoming by his mother Martha and Father Edward.

The family of Jeffrey Allen Hanson wishes to extend sincere gratitude to all of his friends throughout the world and additional family namely the motorcycle riders, military, and US Department of State, to Nancy the property manager and dear neighbors at Paradise Island RV Resort,  and to all of the Medical Intensive Care Unit health care workers at the Bruce W. Carter VA Hospital in Miami, who tended to Jeffrey in his final days.
