Earl Mark
January 16, 2021
Earl Mark was a loving son, brother, caring husband, attentive father, uncle, grandfather, and friend. On January 16, 2021, Earl passed away at Northwest Medical Center in Margate, Florida, from complications of Covid-19. Earl was born in Belmont, Trinidad & Tobago in 1951.
He moved to New York in 1971 along with his siblings. His dream to pursue his education led him to find work in the banking industry. In 1974 he met his future wife, Carmen Acosta, and stepdaughter, Rena Rios-Martin. Shortly thereafter, in their union, their family grew, and they had a son, Richard Mark.
In 1980, Earl relocated to San Luis Obispo, California with his growing family in anticipation of the birth of their daughter, Natasha Mark. He continued his career in banking and was fully vested in making sure his children were taken care of. He valued education and impressed upon the importance of education on his children. He loved watching football, Pittsburgh Steelers was his team. His children remember his antics, gestures, and him belting “TOUCHDOWN”. He loved to cook and took pride in feeding one’s soul with dishes from his native homeland. He always prayed that his refrigerator stays full so that his family and friends can eat. He loved hosting parties and barbecues in his home with his wife. He was the Host with the Most. He had an infectious smile and a resonating laugh that you can never forget.
In 1993, he relocated to Fort Lauderdale, Florida with his family. It was a dream of his to have a home in which his children and grandchildren can visit. He enjoyed music, dancing, food and shared it with whoever was in his presence.
Earl was the eldest child to Jessica Grant and Kenneth Mark. Both parents and two of his siblings, sister and brother, Patricia Mark and Keith Mark, and niece, Maricia Mark preceded him in death. He is survived by his sister, Sandra Mark, his loving wife, Carmen Mark. His stepdaughter, Rena Rios-Martin, and her husband Donovan Martin and their children- Andres, Aliana, AnJoule, and Amelia. His son, Earl Richard Mark, and his wife, Wendy Valdes-Mark, and their children- Raelyn, Isabella, and Christian. His daughter, Natasha Pearl Mark, and her husband Ebby Bynum and their children- Nasyr, Xzavier, and Izaiah. His grandchildren will lovingly remember him as “Papa” and will miss his cooking, his laugh, his humor, and his Soca music. Forever in our Hearts. Rest in Paradise.
Man Is a Success
Who has lived well, laughed often, and loved much.
Who has gained the respect of intelligent men and the love of children.
Who has filled his niche and accomplished his task.
Who leaves the world better than he found it, whether by an improved poppy,
a perfect poem or a rescued soul.
Who never lacked appreciation of earth's beauty or failed to express it.
Who looked for the best in others and gave the best he had.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the family will have a celebration of his life at a future date in Florida.
