John Andrew Lockwood

John Andrew Lockwood, a respected professional hydrogeologist and resident of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, passed away on March 14, 2026, at the age of 64. Born on December 16, 1961, in Lansing, Michigan, John was the son of the late William L. and Marsha Johnson Lockwood.

John was a proud graduate of Nutrier High School in Winnetka, Illinois, and later earned his degree in geology from the University of Kansas. An ardent fan of the Jayhawks, he carried his passion for Kansas basketball and geology throughout his life. John dedicated nearly 30 years of his career to the South Florida Water Management District, where he was highly regarded by his colleagues for his expertise and commitment.

In 2001, John married his loving wife, Joy Romney Lockwood. Together, they shared 25 years of marriage characterized by mutual support and a shared love for their family. John was a man of diverse interests, finding great joy in live music and festivals. Known for his unique sense of humor, he was a constant source of entertainment for those around him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Joy. He adored his stepchildren, Jessica Dabbs Kresko (Bob) and Meghan Dabbs (Paul), and he cherished his grandson, McCoy Kresko. John also leaves behind his beloved siblings: Mary Lockwood Gokcen (Veysel), Stephen Lockwood (Selene), and Madge Lockwood (Lenny), as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

His legacy of professional excellence and his vibrant spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
