Obituary paul martin tobin

Paul Martin Tobin, beloved father, grandfather, and cherished friend, passed away on April 6, 2026, at the age of 91. Born on March 27, 1935, in Brooklyn, New York, Paul lived a life defined by devotion to family, hard work, and a generous spirit that touched everyone who knew him.

Raised by his parents, Max Tobin and Minnie Dubrow, Paul grew up surrounded by the warmth of a close-knit family and the lively energy of Brooklyn. He attended New York University before proudly serving in the United States Army, an experience that shaped his discipline, resilience, and sense of responsibility.

Paul built his career as a restaurateur at Dubrow’s Cafeteria, a family legacy and a Brooklyn institution. He poured his heart into the business, greeting customers with his trademark humor and creating a welcoming space where community thrived. His work ethic and charm made him a natural in the bustling world of hospitality.

In 1967, Paul married the love of his life, Phyllis Tobin. Their marriage was filled with laughter, partnership, and unwavering devotion until her passing in 2009. Together, they raised three children — Melissa Ross, Mitchell Tobin, and Jill Tsakiris — who were the pride and joy of Paul’s life. His role as a father was one he embraced wholeheartedly, always offering guidance, support, and a well-timed joke.

Paul was also a deeply proud grandfather to Eli Tsakiris, Andrew Tsakiris, and Camille Tobin. His grandchildren brought him immense happiness, and he cherished every moment spent cheering them on, sharing stories, and passing down his love of family.

A man of many interests, Paul enjoyed playing tennis and rooting passionately for the New York Giants. His sense of humor was legendary — quick, clever, and capable of lighting up any room. Even in challenging times, he found ways to make others smile.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Max and Mae (Minnie); his son Marc; his wife, Phyllis; and his sisters, Sheila Sonsky and Anita Hoine. He is survived by his children — Melissa (Richard), Mitchell (Ginette), and Jill (Todd) and his grandchildren, Eli, Andrew, and Camille, who will carry forward his legacy of kindness, humor, and love.

Paul spent his later years in Boynton Beach, Florida, where he continued to enjoy the sunshine, good company, and the simple pleasures of life. His presence will be deeply missed, but his memory will remain a source of comfort and inspiration to all who knew him.
