Samuel Montgomery

Samuel A. Montgomery, known affectionately to friends and family as “Sam,” “Jerry,” and “Gomez,” passed away on February 16, 2026, at the age of 73. A resident of Miami, Florida, Sam was a man of profound kindness and unmistakable presence.

Born on December 3, 1952, in the quiet district of Lluidas Vale, Top Hill, Jamaica, Sam attended Crescent All Age School before eventually relocating to the United States. He dedicated much of his professional life to service as a security guard, earning multiple certifications and an Employee Certificate for his commitment.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Sam was a man of vibrant passions. He was an avid cricket player, competing for both club and workplace teams and earning several trophies throughout his life. He also found great joy at the racecourse, where he was a regular fixture fueled by his love for horse racing. He was easily recognized by his sharp signature style: a Kangol hat, Clarks boots, and a long-sleeve shirt or banlan ganzie.

Sam was a man of his word who gave generously and loved without hesitation. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Mavis Montgomery. He is survived by his adored children, Tashiah Saunderson and Richard Montgomery. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Kaivon Montgomery, Matthew Saunderson, Maiyah Saunderson, and Meloni Montgomery. His memory will also be held dear by his closest cousins, including Carol, Raxonne, Jodian, and KellyAnn Groucher, as well as Millicent Montgomery, Pauline Gordon, Veronica Simpson, Glen Wilkes, and Tristan Lawrence.

Sam’s legacy of laughter and generosity remains with all who knew him. He lived with pride, died with dignity, and will be missed by many.
